The history of The Cactai is as vibrant and captivating as Palm Springs itself. Originally opening its doors in 1948 as Los Dolores, the hotel quickly became a beloved retreat, encapsulating the charm and spirit of Palm Springs during the golden age of Hollywood. With its mid-century modern architecture and a reputation for warm hospitality, Los Dolores attracted a diverse mix of guests, from the Hollywood crows to sun-seeking tourists.

However, as decades passed, the hotel faced the challenges of time and change. When it shut its doors for the 2020 pandemic, many thought it may be the end of the story. The property might have faded into obscurity if not for the vision and passion of three Palm Springs locals.

In 2023, these friends, united by their love for the city and its unique history, decided to revive the closed property. Their goal was to create a modern oasis that remained true to Palm Springs' mid-century vibes—a place that echoed the city’s heyday while offering all the comforts and conveniences of contemporary living.

They lovingly restored the original architecture, breathing new life into the hotel while preserving its historical essence. Renamed The Cactai, the hotel has reopened its doors with a renewed sense of purpose. The new owners infused the space with fresh energy, adding stylish updates and modern amenities, all while honoring the legacy of the original Los Dolores.

Today, The Cactai stands as a testament to Palm Springs' enduring appeal as California's fun-in-the-sun playground. It's a place where guests can experience the perfect blend of vintage charm and modern comfort, all set against the backdrop of stunning desert landscapes. With its rich history and thoughtful revival, The Cactai continues to be a cherished oasis, offering a unique and unforgettable experience for all who visit.
